Christa Childress is entering her first season as head softball coach of the Coastal Alabama Lady Eagles.
Childress, of Poplar Bluff, MO., served as both head and assistant coach at Three Rivers College in Missouri for 18 years. Childress and her father Jack coached the women’s volleyball, basketball, and softball programs. Childress, taking the lead role of the softball team, amassed 592 wins and five Missouri Community College Athletic Conference Championships. During her last five years at Three Rivers, the team averaged 40 wins per year, won three titles and held a team GPA above 3.0. The Lady Raiders had 13 Academic All Americans. With Childress as an assistant basketball coach the Lady Raiders won 7 Region Titles, had two National Tournament appearances and placed 5th in the Nation in 2004.
Along with Childress’s coaching duties, she will be teaching business courses in the career technology program for Coastal Alabama Community College. Childress has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Arkansas State University and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Southeast Missouri State University. She attained her master’s in business administration from William Woods University.
She has two adult sons, Tyler (25) and Trent (23) Albright. They both reside in Missouri.
